This coming Tuesday July 1, we’ll have a call with Prof. Margo Berman on
Marketing that stops people in their tracks!
One of the things Margo is going to show us is how to create branding that literally sticks to your audience’s brains!
HOTSEATS!
And, she has agreed to do a couple of hotseats and help some of you with coming up with a marketing slogan for your own small business!
If you’d like to be considered, please give us a quick summary (just leave a comment) of where are you and where you’d like to go so we can discuss this and help you come up with a useful slogan for your marketing.
Any information along the lines would be useful
- what your business is,
- what product or service you have,
- who your target audience are,
- how you would like to be positioned,
- what you’re doing right now and
- what is and isn’t working for you.
We’ll then pick a couple of the entries and let Margo do her magic.

I have a small, housecleaning business with a partner and we both clean. We get work by word of mouth, referrals, and don’t have an official name. We have a DBA. We would like it to be an “official” business. We turn away customers so often because we are too busy. We’d like to have employees and grow the business.

My business is a small handmade jewelry venture. Right now I’m not really doing much advertising because I’m concerned about the costs of print and online ads. My jewelry is mainly designed with recycled electronic parts and is targeted toward 20-30-something women who appreciate a quirky industrial look. I would like to reach this market more effectively, but I don’t have much money to spend on advertising.

I am an Industrial Psychologist and serve the business community as an independent contractor. The areas I prefer to focus on are the development of valid and reliable surveys, data analysis, and the development of performance management systems.

My business is running a home day care for pets. My target audience is people who work or are too busy during the days to care for their animals. I would like to be showcased at the alternative to leaving your pets home alone and uncared for all day. I am putting up fliers around town and ads in local papers, but I don’t seem to be drumming up much business.

I have not started my business at this time as funding can only permit the beginings of this adventure. I have created a success on paper for textile art and have seen an individual make over fifty thousand in a weekend and although he was set up for two weeks I can not even imagine what he made. But I am sure he took a break after this event and is set up under the air conditioning with a beverage but will be right back out there saleing in another week. What are the links one can take to get funding when funding has been strapped because of distaste for working in the pubic sector, cancer, becoming a widow? People do it, but how do they do it when it takes other links to start your own success story? And although these comments have not been shared we all go through mid-life crisis or changes because we believe in what we do and who we are. I now wander how comments will help others in my same interest — never fear to ask because someone else is wanting to ask as well.
